How to Give Effective Feedback

The CASTE approach is recommended for providing effective feedback to your peers.

All feedback must be included in the discussions located on each page as stated in the Participation


  • Provide feedback that will actually help and highlights ways of improving work.


  • Is your feedback doable?
  • Can the the person actually achieve your feedback suggestions?


  • Pin-point exact locations/things that could be improved
  • More precise the easier it is to address changes; avoid general comments


  • Provide feedback well before the project is due
  • Is there enough time to create/re-create what you offer?


  • Provide feedback by means of placing yourself in their position by attempting understand their work
  • Consider the parameters of assignment (eg. time, technical, conceptual, personal constraints) when providing feedback
